ਭਾਈ ਮੱਖਨਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਿਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ. ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਯਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਰ ਹੈਨਰੀ ਲਾਰੈਂਸ (Sir H. Lawrence) ਰੈਜ਼ੀਡੰਟ ਲਹੌਰ ਨੇ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦਰਬਾਰਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਗੁਰਦ੍ਵਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਦਬ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ, ੨੪ ਮਾਰਚ ਸਨ ੧੮੪੭ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ.¹ ਭਾਈ ਮੱਖਨਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਸਨ ੧੮੬੩ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ. ¹ The Priests of Amritsar having complained of annovances, this is to make known to all concerned, that by order of the Governor General.
